Join us, September 29th at Archives Coffee House. Located at 3012 University Ave, Grand Forks. MyAlly Health providers will offer free HIV, Hepatitis C, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea testing. If you get tested for HIV or Hepatitis C, MyAlly Health will give you a gift card for $10 to Archives. (The card may be used that day or at a future date.) MyAlly Health will have an informational table set up with freebies and information on services provided in the main area of the coffee house.

All testing at this event will be free.
(Plus we will give you a $10 gift card if you test for HIV or Hepatitis C!)

Testing for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, HIV and Hepatitis C will be available. Testing for these STD/STIs can potentially cost you thousands of dollars at a regular visit depending on which tests you get and if you test different sites such as anal, oral, rectal and/or vaginal tests.

You can enter through Archive’s front door and a representative at the MyAlly Health info table will direct you to the correct room or you can enter through the Christus Rex door on the Northeast side of the building which will take you right to the library. (We will have signs up to direct.)

 

CDC recommendations are as follows:

    • All adults and adolescents from ages 13 to 64 should be tested at least once for HIV.
    • All sexually active women younger than 25 years should be tested for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia every year. Women 25 years and older with risk factors such as new or multiple sex partners or a sex partner who has an STD/STI should also be tested for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia every year.
    • All pregnant women should be tested for syphilis, HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C starting early in pregnancy. At-risk pregnant women should also be tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea starting early in pregnancy. Testing should be repeated as needed to protect the health of mothers and their infants.
    • All sexually active gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men should be:
      • Tested at least once a year for Syphilis, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea. Those who have multiple or anonymous partners should be tested more frequently (e.g., every 3 to 6 months).
      • Tested at least once a year for HIV and may benefit from more frequent HIV testing (e.g., every 3 to 6 months).
      • Tested at least once a year for Hepatitis C, if living with HIV.
    • Anyone who has unsafe sex or shares injection drug equipment should get tested for HIV at least once a year.
    • People who have had oral or anal sex should talk with their healthcare provider about throat and rectal testing options.
  • You will be given paperwork to fill our your sexual history.
  • You will briefly discuss which tests are best for you with a MyAlly Health provider.
    • Depending upon recommendations of the staff, you may be asked to test for:
      • HIV and/or Hepatitis C – This requires a quick finger poke/blood sample.
      • Chlamydia and/or Gonorrhea – This may be a urine sample, or oral swab, or vaginal/anal self-swab depending upon the type(s) of sexual contact you have had. Come prepared to leave a urine sample. You should not use the bathroom for at least one hour prior to testing.
  • HIV and Hepatitis C results will be back within approximately 20 minutes. You may choose to wait for the results, or we will contact you if the results are positive.
  • Chlamydia and Gonorrhea testing results will generally come back within one week. No news, is good news. You will only be contacted if your results are positive.
  • You may call MyAlly Health at (701) 757-ALLY if you would like to confirm negative results.

A MyAlly Health provider will call you and may request that you come in to the clinic for treatment.
