Wellness Exams
Wellness exams, also referred to as “annual exams” are available for all individuals.
What Happens at a Wellness Exam?
During your wellness visit, a provider will check your height, weight, and blood pressure. They may discuss tobacco use, alcohol use, diet and exercise. The remainder of the visit will depend on your gender, age, sexual health, and medical history.
You may discuss vaccination options, like the HPV vaccine which protects against cervical cancer.
If you are sexually active, you may discuss birth control options or STI testing.
Wellness Exams for Women
Your provider may listen to your heart and lungs, feel your thyroid, perform a breast exam to check for lumps, perform a pelvic exam to check a women’s internal pelvic organs, or perform a Pap Smear test to check for cervical cancer by placing a speculum inside the vagina in order to collect cells from the cervix.
If abnormal cells are found, on a Pap Smear it may be recommended to follow up with a colposcopy.
Wellness Exams for Men
Your provider may listen to your heart and lungs, feel your thyroid, and/or perform a testicular exam.
